This is not True, my virtual background has been working ever since i bought my Surface Pro X SQ2 3 months ago, as of last week it was still working, i just notice today at my zoom meeting the the virtual background feature is greyed out now now it states that this computer does not support virtual background Solved: download the zoom 32bit version, bypass the upgrade to latest version prompt and you can use the virtual background in the 32bit version.

Thanks for this tip, sadly didn\’t work for me. I just got my X a couple of days ago and this is really frustrating. Along with it not being able to install express vpn. You tip does enable the option for virtual backgrounds but when I go to choose one they\’re all greyed out and state that my device doesn\’t support the feature. Would really like someone from MS to follow up as based on posts I\’ve come across this is a very recent issue.

Why does my computer not support the virtual background setting in ZOOM? Not sure I understand why you think Zoom updating their app and breaking support for virtual backgrounds is Microsoft\’s fault.

I would encourage you to contacting Zoom support as John Neil recommended and ask them to release a native ARM app for Windows, as that\’s the real fix. I will try to do so too. I haven\’t tried it yet, but maybe the x64 emulation will fix the issue with the newer Zoom app. I\’ll try to test it when I have a chance. Thing is, people on here small sample, I know were saying it worked fine until a couple of weeks ago.

I\’ve had my X for less than a week now, I uninstalled and rebooted, have tried the 32 bit Zoom version as well as installing Zoom 5. Zoom is on 5. Regardless of which it is, I agree that Zoom need to release a native ARM app for true compatibility going forward. I haven\’t used zoom for a couple months maybe or at least haven\’t updated it , so the version on my Pro X is currently 5. It looks like I can still select virtual backgrounds no problem, though I haven\’t actually joined a meeting.

I\’ve upgraded it to Windows 11 from the developer channel, so I would think if it was something Microsoft broke it would have broken on mine too, since I\’m on newer code than someone not running a dev build of Windows. Of course that introduces other variables so I guess it\’s hard to say for certain. Edit: I joined a test meeting and the background worked just fine.

Oddly enough, it\’s not prompting to upgrade. I guess that\’s why it\’s still at 5. I\’ll do some more testing with upgrading it etc when I can I\’ve only recently re-joined the insiders program and running the Beta channel, may move up to the Dev channel since I\’m not depending on my X as a daily driver.

If I\’ve read correctly, X64 emulation is currently only available in builds on the Dev channel and not in Beta until late August at the earliest. The upgrade from 5. The next test meeting I joined prompt me to \”upgrade to a version compatible with your device\” which switched it to the bit version. The virtual backgrounds option is now unavailable.

Kind of annoying, and I\’m not sure if that\’s a temporary thing or what, the wording was somewhat inconclusive Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community.
