Problem: Others in the Zoom meeting can\’t see me! We\’ve written a detailed guide on the various ways you can get Zoom on your TV that is worth checking out. You can download the Zoom app on your computer or phone and join any meeting with a supplied meeting ID. You can disable audio or video before joining. You can create a free Zoom account and from there you can create a new meeting, schedule one, join a meeting, share a screen, add contacts, and so on.

You can sign up and download Zoom onto your computer using your work email if your system administrator has a Pro, Business, or Enterprise account. You\’ll then want to sync Zoom to your calendar so you can schedule Zoom meetings and invite remote participants to join. If you\’re setting up a Zoom Room, you\’ll need a computer to sync and run Zoom Meetings and a tablet for attendees to launch the Zoom Meetings. You\’ll also need a mic, camera, and speaker, at least one HDTV monitors to display remote meeting participants, and an HDMI cable to share computer screens on a display, as well as an internet cable for your connection.

You\’ll also need to download \”Zoom Rooms for Conference Room\” on the in-room computer and \”Zoom Room Controller\” for the tablet in the meeting room. You can then sync those rooms to your company\’s shared calendar so employees can see which meeting rooms are available. Early in , concerns were raised about Zoom both in terms of security and problems with unwanted guests known as Zoombombers.

The company made moves to counter these issues and reassure users about the importance of security and privacy. This includes simple things like removing the meeting ID from the title bar of the call so if users share screenshots online the meeting isn\’t exposed to future abuse. The rise in prominence of Zoom lead the service to being abused by internet trolls and people with too much time on their hands. Some individuals were hunting down public and insecure Zoom meetings and letting themselves in, then \”bombing\” other people on the call with graphic videos, pornography and other inappropriate content.

We wrote a guide on how to stop Zoombombing a while back and there are various ways you can prevent this from happening, including securing your calls, preventing screen sharing and even disabling video. The team behind Zoom made improvements to secure your calls and keep them safe, and as far as we know, Zoombombing is no longer an issue. Zoom has been updated with security changes to reassure users.

One of these has been the requirement for a password as default for Zoom meetings. This, combined with virtual waiting rooms , ensures that only those people who have been invited to the call are actually allowed in.

Zoom has made it easy to manage and secure your meetings when they\’re happening. There are a range of security tools you can now access with a couple of clicks including the ability to lock the meeting when it has started so no new people can join, remove current participants on the call, muting participants and disabling private chat too.

To access the Zoom security tools, you can simply click on the security button that appears in the window when the call is happening or hover over a participant to interact with them specifically – to remove them from the call for example. It\’s now possible to report participants on the call who aren\’t welcome or are causing trouble. As well as removing them from the call, you can now send a report to the Zoom Trust and Safety team to handle misuse of the system.

This will help block them from the service in future and interfering with other calls too. In October , Zoom unveiled the public beta for OnZoom. It is described as an online events platform and marketplace that allows paid Zoom users to create, host, and monetise events such as fitness classes, concerts, stand-up or improv shows, or music lessons.

When business owners, entrepreneurs, and organizations of all sizes had to find some way – any way – to stay the course and continue providing services to their customers, many turned to Zoom,\” Zoom explained. Visit onzoom. In October , Zoom announced Zapps, or apps that both free and paid Zoom users will have access to within the Zoom platform. For example, you can use the Dropbox Zapp to share the document you\’ve been working on, or you can put up a poll using the Slido Zapp, or you can pull up the Asana Zapp and do updates on team projects.

The first of these Zapps will land by the end of Zoom plans to open the ability to offer a Zapp to more developers in the future. Users will be able to search and add approved Zapps and integrate them directly into their Zoom accounts.

Visit zoom. Zoom lets you create recurring meetings. You can set the call settings you want once and have them be in there every time you plan to meet, and you can join calls using the same URL each time.

If the meeting has 49 or fewer attendees, you\’ll see all of their screens displayed on one page. If there are more, you\’ll have the option to move between multiple pages. Change it back by clicking Speaker View in that same top right corner. Try out Zoom\’s immersive view feature to put yourself in the same virtual space as your fellow meeting participants. Zoom\’s immersive view feature lets you put yourself in the same virtual background as your fellow video chat participants — be it a conference room, classroom or anywhere else you can think of.

If you\’re the meeting or webinar host, start the Zoom meeting on your desktop it will be enabled by default for all free and single pro accounts using Zoom 5.

In the top right corner, where you find Speaker or Gallery View, you\’ll see the option to enable Immersive View. Click Immersive View , and choose from one of Zoom\’s provided scenes, or upload your own. Your meeting participants or webinar hosts will now be placed in the same virtual background and will appear that way on every participant\’s screen.

On a larger call, your screen can get cluttered with participants, which can be distracting, especially if some don\’t have their cameras on. Now you\’ll only be distracted by your co-workers\’ pets and children who appear on video.

Zoom\’s vanishing pen feature lets you draw on your shared screen to call attention to text or objects, but then fades away so you don\’t have to go back and erase your markings.

To use it, share your screen, and click Annotate. On the menu that pops up, click Vanishing Pen. Both free and paid Zoom subscribers can record their meeting to their laptop or computer using the desktop app you can\’t record on mobile at the moment, unless you have a paid account — keep reading for more on that. Those recorded files can then be uploaded to a file storage service such as Google Drive or Dropbox , or a video streaming service such as YouTube or Vimeo.

When you\’re hosting a Zoom meeting, click the Record icon on the bottom toolbar. Tap the record button on the bottom toolbar, and you\’ll have the option to make it either local or in the cloud. You can do this on either desktop or mobile. In April, Zoom launched a new Whiteboard feature that allows participants to collaborate on a sharable canvas that you can access even outside of meetings.

To enable Whiteboard, make sure you\’ve updated to the latest version. Then select the Whiteboards tab from the Zoom app and select New Whiteboard. For work accounts, your account administrator must have Whiteboards enabled — if you can\’t find the Whiteboards tab, your company probably doesn\’t have them enabled yet.

See our guide to internet during the coronavirus pandemic for ways to get faster speeds at an affordable rate as we all hunker down to work and study from home. Xfinity is probably your best bet because it has a wide network, incredibly fast speeds, and great customer ratings. You can find more great providers on our fastest internet providers guide.

Also, make sure to run a search to see which of these providers are available in your area. You need a minimum of at least Kbps 0.

If your Zoom sessions frequently lag or freeze up, the most likely culprit is your internet connection. But there are plenty of ways to get better performance, even if you have a relatively slow internet speed.

To bring your Zoom call back to normal, close out your email, web browser, and any other applications or windows you might have open. The quickest and easiest way to address slow internet at home is by restarting your modem and router. Unplug both devices from the wall, let them rest for a minute or so, then plug them back in. A simple reset clears away potential bugs and programming cobwebs that may be weighing down your equipment.

Has your home internet cut out? Simply whip out your cell phone and log on to Zoom with your mobile data. To turn them off, head to the video settings menu by clicking the tiny, upward-pointing arrow next to the Start Video button in the bottom left corner of your screen.

There you can click off the check marks on both features. The more people who are using your Wi-Fi connection, the more strain it puts on your home internet speed. Place it on a table or shelf, away from metal objects, microwaves, and other obstacles.

If your home has multiple floors or a complex layout, consider investing in a mesh wireless system or long-range router. Instead of relying on a Wi-Fi signal, you can plug your computer directly into your router with an Ethernet cable. That gives you faster speeds and more reliable performance.

Or, if other options are available in your area, you can switch to a new provider that gives you faster speeds and better performance overall.

Group video calls need between MB to over 2 GB of data per hour, depending on the video quality. Drawing from our knowledge of the difference between megabits and megabytes , we did some calculations to get a baseline estimate.

We found that you can end up using anywhere from 0. Worried about Zooming away your monthly data cap? Read our data caps guide to find internet providers with no caps. Let us know if you have any other questions. The requirements for even standard HD p seem quite extensive and almost impractical. Assuming for the moment we are only concerned with p, it seems you are saying that only 2 participants could experience p if all the requirements are met. There are more distinctions to be made here such as what exactly is meant by, \” If three participants have video on , the quality will revert to non-HD \”.

If we distinguish between the participant who is the sender of HD vs. With regard to the Full Screen requirement, what does that mean for a meeting participant joining via Smartphone? Since there is all this talk about CPU cores etc. I assume none of this applies to Smartphone participants. My use case that brought all of this up is the desire to share higher resolution graphics with a Zoom audience.

While I understand that the Zoom screen share feature allows for sharing high resolution graphics, the case uses 3rd party software such as OBS to feed Zoom\’s camera input. While a video scene is sort of acceptable in SD via this input, graphics appear pretty ugly because its at p. So this is the use case. As a practical matter, the participant who is presenting the graphic via the OBS HD input to Zoom would want any other participant to see it in HD, regardless of what device they are using.

Smartphones can certainly receive and show an HD video stream. Considering the use case, does the use of the OBS source meet the the stipulation of \” At least one participant must be in full-screen mode \”?

Will be interested in your further comments. And thanks again for responding. When I say 2 participants with video on, I mean participants sending video so with their camera on. All the participants can receive video, there are no limitations on that. Basically, only 2 participants can keep their camera on during the meeting to allow one of them to feed an HD video to the others. The CPU requirements are all and only related to the participant that is sending video, not to the one receiving it.

However, Group HD is not supported on mobile devices, neither in upload or download. Only the desktop client supports it.
